Individual Therapy

You’re stuck in a cycle

Be calm. Be strong. Stay quiet.

But that silence turns into withdrawal, resentment, or anger.

You might feel:

  • Like nothing you do is ever right

  • Unsure how to express frustration without making things worse

  • Defensive, triggered, or constantly on edge

  • Overwhelmed by emotional demands

These aren't weaknesses, they're survival responses. We'll help you break this cycle without changing who you are.

You'll learn to:

  • Clearly express your side without shutdown or conflict

  • Communicate confidently, without second-guessing yourself

  • Build emotional leadership at home and in relationships

  • Reconnect authentically, without resentment or passivity

How does online therapy work?

I provide secure telehealth sessions throughout Washington and Idaho. You'll receive a private video link, and we meet from wherever you're comfortable, home, office, or car. Sessions are HIPAA-compliant and confidential.

What if I've never done therapy before?

Most of my clients haven't. The first session is just a conversation, you share what's bringing you here, I explain how I work, and we decide if we're a good fit. No pressure.

How long will I need therapy?

Most men notice meaningful shifts within 4-6 sessions. Some continue for a few months to solidify new patterns. We'll check in regularly about progress, this isn't therapy where you come for years without seeing results.

What if I don't know what to say?

That's normal. I'll guide the conversation. You don't need to have it all figured out before you start, that's what we'll work on together.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes and $180. I accept insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Regence, Premera, Aetna, First Choice) and offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for those who qualify.

Is this confidential?

Yes. Everything you share is confidential within legal and ethical limits. I don't share information with anyone unless you're at risk of harming yourself or others, or there's suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult.

What if we're not a good fit?

I'll tell you. If I think a different therapist or approach would serve you better, I'll refer you. Your progress matters more than keeping you as a client.

You’re always having the same fight

One partner shuts down. The other lashes out.

Or maybe you're both exhausted from trying to reconnect, but nothing changes.

You might feel:

  • Like every conversation leads nowhere

  • Constantly misunderstood or unheard

  • Emotionally distant or disconnected

  • Afraid to bring things up, knowing it'll trigger the same fight

You’re not here because love faded. You're here because connection did.

We cut through surface conflicts to address what's really happening underneath.

You'll learn to:

  • Break cycles of pursue/withdraw and repetitive arguments

  • Communicate clearly so your partner truly hears you

  • Repair emotional wounds without blame or shame

  • Rebuild intimacy that lasts beyond therapy

Move from reacting out of fear to responding with intention.

What if my partner doesn't want to come?

This is one of the most common questions. We can start with you individually. Often, when one partner starts changing the pattern, the other becomes more willing to join. I'll help you navigate that conversation.

Do you see both of us together or separately?

Both. I typically start with joint sessions to understand your dynamic, then alternate between joint and individual sessions. This helps me understand each person's perspective while addressing the relationship as a whole.

What if we're already considering divorce?

Come anyway. Couples therapy can help you make that decision with clarity rather than reactivity. If you decide to separate, you'll have tools to do it respectfully. If you decide to stay, you'll have rebuilt a foundation worth staying for.

How long until we feel better?

It depends! Most couples experience a shift within the first few sessions, less tension, better communication, moments of real connection. Deep patterns take longer to change (typically 3-6 months), and continued effort is required by both partners, but you'll feel progress along the way.

What if one of us has an affair or breach of trust?

We can work with that. Rebuilding trust after betrayal is possible with structured support. I'll help both partners process the pain, understand what led to the breach, and decide whether to rebuild or separate with dignity.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are 50-90 minutes and range from $200-250 depending on session length. I accept insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Regence, Premera, Aetna, First Choice) and offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots.

What happens in the first session?

I'll ask about your relationship history, current challenges, and what you each want to change. You'll leave with at least one practical tool you can use immediately, not weeks from now.

Is this confidential?

Yes, with one caveat: I can't keep secrets from one partner if it's shared in individual sessions. If something comes up that affects the relationship (like an ongoing affair), we'll address it together.

The stress you don’t show

You’re trained to handle crisis, trauma, and chaos.

But off-duty, that strength can become isolation, stress, or exhaustion.

You might feel:

  • Constantly on edge or easily triggered

  • Emotionally disconnected at home

  • Unable to shake the impact of traumatic experiences

  • Like no one really understands your reality

Your strength shouldn't mean carrying these burdens alone. We're here to help you manage, heal, and reconnect.

3. Build Lasting Resilience Gain tools and strategies to manage stress, heal relationships, and thrive professionally and personally.

50 mins |  $180  (sliding scale spots available)

1. Book Your Consultation

We start with a confidential call where you share what you're dealing with—work stress, relationship strain, trauma, or just feeling off. I'll explain how therapy works and answer questions. No department affiliation. No reporting. Just support.

2. Tailored Sessions

We meet for 50-minute sessions via secure telehealth. I use trauma-informed approaches and practical strategies designed for first responders, people who've seen things most can't imagine and are trained to suppress it. We'll address stress, trauma, relationship impacts, and build resilience.

3. Build Lasting Resilience

You'll gain tools to manage stress, reconnect emotionally at home and at work, navigate difficult conversations, and process trauma without letting it run your life. Many first responders feel relief and clarity after the first session.

Is this confidential? Will you contact my department?

Absolutely confidential. I'm a private therapist, not affiliated with any department, agency, or EAP program. I don't report back to anyone unless there's a legal or safety obligation (harm to self/others, child abuse). What you share stays between us.

How is this different from EAP or department resources?

EAP programs are often limited (3-6 sessions) and some first responders worry about confidentiality. I'm completely independent, offer ongoing support as long as you need it, and specialize in first responder mental health, not generic counseling.

What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?

Most first responders who've had bad therapy experiences worked with someone who didn't understand the culture, the stress, or the stigma. I do. Therapy here isn't about "talking about your feelings", it's about practical tools, managing trauma, and protecting what matters most.

Do I have to talk about traumatic calls?

Only if you want to. Some first responders need to process specific incidents. Others need help with cumulative stress, relationship issues, or managing anger. We'll focus on what you need, not what a textbook says you should address.

Can I do therapy around my shift schedule?

Yes. I offer flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends to work around rotating shifts, 24-hour schedules, and last-minute callouts. We can adjust as needed.

How long will I need therapy?

It depends on what you're working on. Some first responders come for a few sessions to get through a rough patch. Others stay longer to address deeper trauma or relationship patterns. Most feel relief within the first 3-6 sessions.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are 50 minutes and $180. I accept insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Regence, Premera, Aetna, First Choice) and offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for first responders.

What if my family/partner thinks I should go to therapy but I don't think I need it?

Come for one session. If therapy isn't helpful, I'll tell you. But often the people closest to us notice changes before we do—irritability, withdrawal, emotional distance. One conversation won't hurt, and it might help more than you expect.
